		In 2011, the collaborative project Waorani started, involving the researcher Casey High, from Goldsmiths University of London, the north American researcher Connie Dickinson, and the young Waorani, Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba and Oswando Nenquimo as native documentalists. The main objective of the project is to register cultural practices that cover a broad range of topics and contexts, from rituals and traditional stories to daily life conversations. The project also aims at producing a database including a lexicon of at least 6000 words as well as a grammatical outline of the language. The project received funding from the Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, London, for three years.
		En 2011, comenzó el proyecto de colaboración Waorani, que involucró al investigador Casey High, de Goldsmiths University of London, al investigador norteamericano Connie Dickinson, y los jóvenes Waorani, Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba y Oswando Nenquimo como documentalistas nativos. El objetivo principal del proyecto es registrar prácticas culturales que cubren una amplia gama de temas y contextos, desde rituales e historias tradicionales hasta conversaciones de la vida cotidiana. El proyecto también tiene como objetivo producir una base de datos que incluya un léxico de al menos 6000 palabras, así como un esquema gramatical del idioma. El proyecto recibió fondos del Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, Londres, durante tres años.
		En este video de cincuenta y seis minutos, Tiri Nenquimo cuenta once historias tradicionales. Las historias se cuentan en wao terero, se transcriben y luego se traducen al español y al inglés. 		In this fifty-six minute video, Tiri Nenquimo tells eleven traditional stories. The stories are told in Wao Terero, transcribed and then translated into Spanish and English. The stories include: 1) The woman kidnapped by the spider monkey; 2) The man who had a dolphin wife; 3) The chorongo monkey; 4) The sloth who ate women; 5) The youth and the peccary; 6) The tapir wife; 7) The child of the sun who taught the Waorani to make spears; 8) The nutria who ate too much; 9) The delinquent youth who tricked the hunters; 10) The devil from which mosquitos were created; 11) The man who complained too much.
		Wao Terero is an unclassified language spoken by some 2,800 Waorani who live in the western Amazon area in the provinces of Pastaza, Napo and Orellana in Ecuador. Spanish is the national language of Ecuador
		The principal speaker here is Tiri Nenquimo, a well-known Wao storyteller. Tiri is fifty years old at the time of this recording and was born in Toñampari, but now lives in Nemonpare. Wao Terero is his maternal language but he also speaks some Spanish.
		El principal orador aquí es Tiri Nenquimo, un conocido narrador de Wao. Tiri tiene cincuenta años en el momento de esta grabación y nació en Toñampari, pero ahora vive en Nemonpare. Wao terero es su lengua materna, pero también habla español.
		Tiri nació en Wimenta pero actualmente vive en la comunidad de Nemopare. Está casado con Marga Pauchi y tiene diez hijos: Yam, Inés, Gawe, Loida, Victor, Margot, Luis, Ana. Es un experto en la caza, la pesca, la artesanía y conoce muchas historias, cuentos, mitos y leyendas. Wao Terero es su lengua materna, pero también habla algo de español.
		Tiri was born in Wimenta but currently lives in the community of Nemopare. He is married to Marga Pauchi and has ten children: Yam, Ines, Gawe, Loida, Victor, Margot, Luis, Ana. He is an expert in hunting, fishing, handcrafts and knows many stories, tales, myths and legends. Wao Terero is his maternal language, but he also speaks some Spanish.
		Jorge Gaba nació y creció en Toñampari. Es el hijo de Amoa Gaba y Ñai Ciaga. Tiene una hija con Tania Montahuano. Tiene una educación secundaria y ha sido entrenado en documentación. Su lengua materna es wao terero, pero también habla español y sabe leer y escribir en ambos idiomas.
		Jorge Gaba was born and raised in Toñampari. He is the son of Amoa Gaba and Ñai Ciaga. He has a daughter with Tania Montahuano. He has a high school education and has been trained in documentation. His maternal language is Wao Terero but he also speaks Spanish and is literate in both languages
