		In 2011, the collaborative project Waorani started, involving the researcher Casey High, from Goldsmiths University of London, the north American researcher Connie Dickinson, and the young Waorani, Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba and Oswando Nenquimo as native documentalists. The main objective of the project is to register cultural practices that cover a broad range of topics and contexts, from rituals and traditional stories to daily life conversations. The project also aims at producing a database including a lexicon of at least 6000 words as well as a grammatical outline of the language. The project received funding from the Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, London, for three years.
		In this 38 minute video, transcribed and translated into Spanish and English, Dayuma relates her experiences during the time of first contact. She speaks of the inter-Wao conflicts that led her to flee her community as well as the killing of the five Christian missionaries by the Wao and her relationship with the missionary, and sister to one of the killed missionaries, Rachel Saint. She also speaks some of her current situation.
		En este video de 38 minutos, transcrito y traducido al español y al inglés, Dayuma relata sus experiencias durante el primer contacto. Ella habla de los conflictos entre Wao que la llevaron a huir de su comunidad, así como el asesinato de los cinco misioneros cristianos por parte de Wao y su relación con el misionero, y la hermana de una de las misioneras asesinadas, Rachel Saint. Ella también habla algo de su situación actual.
		Wao terero es un idioma sin clasificación hablado por algunos 2,800 Waorani en la area de Amazonia occidental en las provincias de Pastaza, Napo y Orellana de Ecuador.
		Dayuma, (born ca 1930 - March 1, 2014) was the first Waorani to convert to Christianity and had a central role in the politics and social situation of the Waorani. She was born and raised with the Waorani but fled with two other girls after her father was killed by the Wao warrier, Moipa. She encountered Kichwa who allowed her to live as a worker in their community where she met Rachel Saint, a Summer Institute of Linguistics missionary. She began to teach Rachel Wao Terero, the Waorani language and Rachel in turn worked to convert Dayuma to christianity. Soon after five missionaries were killed by Waorani on Palm Beach, in 1958, Dayuma returned to the Waorani community. Dayuma then invited Rachel Saint and Elizabeth Eliot to come and live with the Waorani. Dayuma was instrumental in establishing peaceful contact with the colonos and also in converting many of the Wao to christianity. She also fought to establish Wao territory. She became very well known, traveling to the US with the missionaries where she appeared on television. She died in Toñampare in 2014.
		Dayuma, (nacido ca 1930 - 1 de marzo de 2014) fue el primer waorani en convertirse al cristianismo y tuvo un papel central en la situación política y social de los waorani. Nació y se crió con los Waorani, pero huyó con otras dos mujeres jóvenes después de que su padre fue asesinado por el guerrillero Wao, Moipa. Se encontró con Kichwa que le permitió vivir como trabajadora en su comunidad donde conoció a Rachel Saint, una misionera del Instituto de Lingüística de Verano.
