Description:		This project is a part of PhD dissertation fieldwork, supported by the Endangered Languages Documentation Programme (IGS00166). The dissertation itself will focus on evidentiality in the language, but the documentation aims to encompass as broad a set of linguistic and cultural practices as possible. Most interviews were carried out by native Kichwa researchers, and are therefore monolingual in Kichwa. The topics addressed cover the recent history of the Amazonian Kichwa, folktales, everyday life and ceremonies.
		We were trying to get to interview Cesar since Monday, and every day there was something that got into our way, so I was relieved when we finally made it. We bumped into him on the road, and made him go back home to be interviewed. The idea was for him to tell some folktales, and as far as I could tell from Nilo's coversation with Cesar, this has worked out quite well. We were sitting at the back of Cesar's house, and there was a lot of noise from the road - I have to remember to sit people in a way that will allow for pointing the computer away from the road. I felt quite good about the recording, and I really like Cesar's way of speaking. I went through an hour of Edwin's interview with him this week to check what kinds of subjects they already talked about, and I was quite looking forward to actually meeting Cesar. On Tom Castle's advice, I tried cutting the session into shorter bits, so that the random 2GB division doesn't affect us so much. Unfortunately I still can't understand where the conversation is going, so I had to rely on Nilo for that. I think it slipped his mind, so we didn't do the cut for the transition from ta_07062013_01 to _02, but the last one is properly done. Now on 09/07, listening to it again, I noticed that at least in the first file (_01), the audio is sort of strange - even though it was exportes as stereo, Cesar is mainly getting in through the right ear - and the second channel kiks in after about 30s - I think this is because attenuation was on for NTS2, but not for the lavalier mike. I put the track in audacity and applied "mix and render", which seems to have improved the quality of listening a bit. Camera: CanonXA10, microphones: Rode NTG2, AT825 Lavalier
