| Description: | The Yup'ik materials in the ACLS collection are found in multiple sections of the finding aid. In the "Eskimo" section there are "Unaaliq" field notes, texts with interlinear translations, and vocabularies. These were derived from Swadesh's work with James Andrews of St. Michael, Alaska. See also Boas' "Comparative word list of Alaskan Eskimo, Siberian Eskimo, and Chukchee" from 1905, which contains "Siberian Eskimo" language material that is probably Siberian Yup'ik based on fieldwork of Bogoras from the Jesup North Pacific Expedition. | |
