Description:As Nadine arrives in Ngolo in the morning and greets everyone, people have already gathered and are still dancing as they had a dance ceremony during the night. Many of the villagers are either tired or still energized from the dance and alcohol. Nze and Apato show how they make the foot rattles for the "Bapeya" mask dancer. They start by stripping flexible vines into long and flat ropes, about 1 cm wide. Apato then starts weaving them. This weaving pattern differs from the ones used, for instance, in basket making (as shown in the Procedural/observational collection). As Apato is advancing with his work, Ngyemba starts cutting some flat metal into pieces with a machete that will be put into the woven footgear and produce a rattling sound when the dancer moves his feet.
