Nuku Hiva (North Marquesas)
Description:This is the legend of Pe'ahei of Nuku Hiva island. Pe'ahei was a princess of the Hapa'a valley who married the son of the chief of Ho'oumi. They had three children, the first-born was a boy, and the other two were twin girls. When the twins were bathing on day in the river they saw a reflection in the water which showed war, sickness and death of their valley. Their mother Pe'ahei rejected their prediction at first, but later it proved to be true.
