Title:Kora List 10 A few sentences
Dictionary of Korana ('Ora), a South African Khoesan language of the KHOE family
Contributor:Edward Charles Human
Bradley van Sitters
Levi Namaseb
Contributor (speaker):Jacoba Maclear
Coverage:South Africa
Description:Extended interview (±35 minutes) conducted in Afrikaans, mainly by Levi Namaseb, but with contributions from Bradley van Sitters and Edward Charles Human. Discusses Ouma’s personal history. Attempts are made at one point to elicit a sample of extended discourse, but Ouma cannot be persuaded, and sadly explains that she has no-one left to help her.
The material consists of approximately 900 sound files illustrating lexis, phrases and example sentences for this Khoekhoe language of the early Cape; plus a small selection of still photographs. The audio material is annotated in an accompanying spreadsheet, where the sound files are linked to the entries. Each individual sound file has a unique number, and this will eventually be entered into ELAN-transcripts of the full-length elicitation sessions, at the exact place of its occurrence.
