Description:		The old betokɨ man from Virauazu, Colombia, is singing a sample of the songs that are performed in Kubeo mourning ceremonies (which have not been performed since the early 1980s). All songs are to be performed during the mourning ceremony of a prominent Kubeo person. The mourning does usually take place several months or up to a few years after the death of a person. The songs are in some sort of crystallized language, probably of Arawakan origin. The ritual is performed during one or two nights and days. singers dress in bark-cloth. they drink manioc-fermented drinks and ayawaska (or yagé) mihi in kubeo, an hallucinogenic drink made from a special liana.
