Title:The history of San Pedro and Leonardo Caverno
0185-The history of San Pedro and Leonardo Caverno
Documentation of Zenzontepec Chatino language and culture
Contributor:GCG
Coverage:Mexico
Date:2009-07-23
Description:This tale recounts some of the history of San Pedro. Leonardo Cavero was one of the well known ancestors in the village. They built a trench (for irrigation) in the flat part of town where the church now stands. There were cane fields, banana plantations and citrus trees in that place. There were four sugar mills. Leonardo donated the land to the village. GCG lists some of the other Cavero ancestors of old times. GCG and TCR discuss the importance of the recording because their offspring and future generations will have access to the history, which otherwise is now falling out of the public consciousness.
