Title:The man Emiliano
0185-The man Emiliano
Documentation of Zenzontepec Chatino language and culture
Contributor:TCR
Coverage:Mexico
Date:2009-06-13
Description:This story relates what happened to a man named Emiliano. His tono (animal spirit companion) was killed by a brujo (sorcerer) who was angry at him. He turned black when he died. The story is chisme (gossip), and not necessarily true, although Emiliano did die. TCR doesn't believe it, but others think it was brujería because he died so quickly and unexpectedly. The story was offered by TCR during the ethnomedicine workshop at the PDLMA summer field season. A Spanish retelling and discussion begins at 2:16.Audio duration [00:04:52]
