Description:		The session is part of a series of eighteen files documenting the demolishing of an old grass-thach-roof hut that belonged to the mother of Ms Asnakech Ayssa. When the mother of Asnakech died, she left the house and the land around it to Asnakech. Since Asnakech and her husband already have two houses in the same village (ɗimalle), Asnakech decided to have the place occupied by her daughter Ms. Birtukan Bunkula. For this, she is having the old hut renovated by a group of ~15 people whom she invited for dabo ‘reciprocal group labor’. The renovated old hut will be used as a kitchen and another house, with corrugated-iron-roof, will be built in front of it. The latter will be used as the main house. Researcher Azeb Amha and research assistant Asmelash Michael came to the work place on invitation of Ms Asnakech who heard about the researcher’s interest from her daughter. In the session, conversation between Asnakech and different other people can be heard about a.o., the bad state of the old house, equipment needed for demolishing the house. Identification of each speaker was difficult because of distant recording. This will be done in subsequent fieldwork when people can identify those speaking from their voice. The video recordings were made by researcher Azeb Amha using Panasonic HC-W580 video camera. Asmelash Michael independently made audio recording all sessions using Zoom4H audio recorder.
