Description:In this audio recording, YTY talks about traditional hunting and trapping, as well as his own experiences with both. He relates that often he would go hunting without his family members knowing. He would get up between three and four in the morning to go out hunting. Each dog was fed two chicken eggs and a small bit of meat before setting off in the mornings. One time he went out hunting with his paternal uncle and another man and they encountered a wild donkey. They lost sight of the donkey after it went part of the mountain, while the other went down by the river to look, YTY stayed halfway up the mountain where he found the donkey. He shot and hit the donkey which then fled. He heard the sound of the bells four dogs he had taken with him as they chased after the donkey. He was able to get atop the donkey and Mr. YTY tells a story about walking to Beichuan county to borrow a musket and about a time when him and his brother in law shot and killed a wild ox. Mr. YTY also talks about how to dogs were used in traditional hunting. He also tells a story about when he didn't have a gun, but used a trap using a rope and a tree and coming back to find he had caught a musk deer in the trap. After collecting the musk and the teeth from the deer. He then went to his home in Lili village. His grandfathers youngest uncle was greatly pleased with him for his having caught a musk deer. When asked what is the most difficult type of animal to hunt, YTY mentions wild boars as the most clever and hard to hunt.
