Contributor (recorder):Valentina Alfarano
Contributor (speaker):Dunkan Mesapo
Coverage:Solomon Islands
Date:2017-11-11
Description:In this video recording, the speaker Dunkan Mesapo is explaining three techniques to hunt wild chickens in the bush. These techniques are common to Santa Cruz Island, and not specifically to Nea and Nemboi communities. The first method involves building traps, while the second one involves carrying domesticated chickens to the bush to find the wild ones when they hear them crowing. Finally, the third method involves carrying a domesticated chicken to the bush to find the wild ones and fight with them. The session takes place in the house of the speaker's parents. Some other community members are present in the session.
Valentina Alfarano is the principal investigator of this project.
