The idea is to see what the person marking is, and test the split ergative system that is suggested for Motozintlec. Jaime goes through all the paradigm to see what the person system is, if there is a dual, inclusive and exclusive difference. He also asks questions about the animacy of the participants in an event, the difference of number and person. In Mayan languages the set of ergative marking also refers to the possessor of nouns.
