His father died when he was 14, and he narrates what he had to do to support his family and himself. He talks about when he got married, and that his wife had a different point of view about life. He says how the life in Tuzantan was many years ago, what they used to eat, and what their customs were. For example, Don Elpidio narrates that during a wake people used to socialize more, and that that space was used to make jokes and say things about the person who passed away in order to lessen the pain of the human loss. He also talks about how people used to get marry. He says that before was different because Tuzantec people had a whole process of requesting the bride, and that nowadays they just get together and live together with no consent of the parents. | |
