Description:Bradley McDonnell, Johan Safri, and Anton Supriyadi recorded a conversation between Sulaiman and Pakhruddin at Sulaiman’s house. Video recorded on Canon XA-30, audio recorded in two ways: (i) Tascam DR-60 with an Audio Technica Stereo Microphone and (ii) Marantz PMD-561 with two SM-35 headset microphone.
Anton is Bradley McDonnell's main contact in the village. McDonnell lived with Anton while staying in the Nasal villages. Anton is from Bintuhan, Kaur, Bengkulu, and both of his parents are Kaur from the same town. Anton was born in Bintuhan, but moved to Bengkulu city in 1997 to go to Bengkulu University. He graduated in 2006 and moved to Tanjung Betuah, Nasal, Bengkulu in 2007 when he married his wife, Yeniafrida, who is originally from Tanjung Betuah.
Bradley McDonnell is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is originally from the USA.
Johan was born in the Nasal village of Gedung Menung, and moved to various cities in Indonesia for school and work. These include Bintuhan (1995-1997) for high school,Bengkulu (1997-2002), and Jakarta (2002-2005). His mother is Kaur from the town of Bintuhan, and his father is Nasal from the village of Gedung Menung. His wife is Masayu Rudaida who is Besemah. He has three children Naqsa, Aura, and Imam.
Sulaiman Afandi (Pandi) was born in the Nasal village of Gedung Menung, and he has lived there since. His mother is Nasal from the village of Tanjung Betuah, and his father is Nasal from the village of Gedung Menung. He has six children: Maksip, Zair, Usman, Rohima, Ipta, Dewi. His wife Rudia is Komering (OKU) from Muara Dua.
Pakhruddin (Din) was born in the Nasal village of Gedung Menung, and he has lived there since. His father is Nasal from the village of Gedung Menung, and his mother is Nasal from the village of Tanjung Betuah. He has one child, Urip, and his wife, Kartini, is Javanese.
