| Description: | This is the eigth session in a series of recordings made on 1 April 2017 when Mr Arche Apa visited researcher (Azeb), host and interviewer (Mr Tariku Chifaw) in Dimalle in the house of Mr Tariku Chifaw. Mr Tariku asked Mr Woldesenbet about marriage in his family. Woldesenbet starts by telling what he heard about the wedding ceremonies of his father and mother. Then they speak about hayle 'organization of labour for cultivating the expansive lands of the chiefs. Further Tariku asks the rituals Mr Woldesenbet needs to do in case of illness and other problems. They then talk about his upbringing and how he learnt these rituals. The conversation then centers on the sensitive history of the area as nothern settlers came to area and the explotative relationship with the local Zargulla-Gamo, situations they each experienced which they mentioned as evidence to deteriorating quality of life in the area, despite more people being educated, stronger self-administration, health service, etc. The audio recording was made using Zoom 4Hn recorder. The session was also video-recorded. | |
