Description:Demonstration of a traditional welcome dance.
The project documents oral texts on traditions and daily life in the Reef Islands, covering 8 villages and 73 speakers ranging in age from 15 to 93. The materials were recorded in September-October 2015.
Janet Stemaa, Rose Pakia, Rose Mary Kaplei and Grace Napai dance a traditional welcome dance called padola. They sing and beat the rhythm with coconut shells.
