| The project documents oral texts on traditions and daily life in the Reef Islands, covering 8 villages and 73 speakers ranging in age from 15 to 93. The materials were recorded in September-October 2015. | ||
| Daniel Kiloa talks to Luke Gitakulu about traditional governance structure in the Reefs, in the context of work on a revised constitution for the Solomon Islands which is meant to give greater independence of government to the individual provinces. He talks about the traditional leaders that would govern a village or a compound, what their different roles were and how they were chosen. He and Luke then discuss the feasibility of returning to this system of governance in the present-day Reef Islands. The transcription is incomplete as of February 2017. Photos of chart used in the recording to illustrate the governance structure, and of pages from the 2009 Draft Federal Constitution Feedback Report from Temotu Province, describing the governance system. | ||
