Title:A sociolinguistic survey of the people of the Fakai district

This report presents the results of a survey of the language varieties of Fakai District in Zuru Local Government Area of south-central Kebbi State in Nigeria. The survey was conducted in April 1991 and January 1992. The purpose was to determine the optimal language variety for transcription as a written standard. The survey instruments utilized were the lexicostatistical and syntactic comparison of Fakai District varieties, Recorded Text Tests, and a dialect/accent recognition test.
