Description:A folktale told by Elizabeth Puiri. This tells how and why two curious sisters were swallowed by a bad spirit called Mauiri. When their mother went fishing she told the children to go to the garden and harvest taro, but not the biggest taro plant. The two began a journey to find Mauiri at the beach. When they arrived at the beach Mauiri’s servant asked them not to call his master, but they didn't listen to him. Eventually Mauiri swallowed the two children.. Language as given:
