Description:Texts - Prodigal Son: Alternative Mota Lava and Mota - Motlav and Mota, Austronesian languages of Matalaua and Mota Islands in the Banks group, Vanuatu. -- Toga, Torres Islands - The Austronesian language Loh on Tegua, Loh and Toga Islands, Torres group, Vanuatu. (no side b) Second part of the tape credits Solomon Tevita as a native speaker collaborator.. Language as given: Moto Lava and Mota; Toga
Format:Digitised: yes Media: LR Audio-tape Type 961. Plastic spool. Short tape lead-in. First few centimetres crumpled. Otherwise good condition. Audio Notes: Operator: Nicholas Fowler-Gilmore Tape Machine: StuderA810 Soundcard: RME HDSPe AIO A/D Converter: DAD2402 File: 24bit96kHz, Stereo Speed: 3.75in/s Listening Quality: Ok There is an unidentified language - the recorder may be saying [hao], but the closest thing I could find in the Solomon Islands was 'Gao' language. Apparently it's from North Guadalcanal. Two speakers in the first part of this tape - language isn't identified on the tape. One speaker talking softly and the other one loudly into the mic. Could be elicitation or some kind of call and response. Lots of it faint and barely audible speaking.
