Description:Two recordings in which Wangkui Ngaimong reads out the Ngaimong primers and alphabet books. These consist of the following sound files: SDM16-20111108-02_SM_T_Wangkui_NgaimongPrimer.wav SDM16-20111108-03_SM_T_Wangkui_NgaimongPrimer.wav The details of these recordings are as follows: SDM16-20111108-02_SM_T_Wangkui_NgaimongPrimer.wav; Duration 4’21”; The Ngaimong primers and alphabet books were produced probably in the 1960s in Burma. Their use was forbidden because other Tangsa people did not agree to Ngaimong being taught. Ngaimong Class 1 book – cover and page 5 Kial:Kaai: Lam: (about the goat) 1’45” beginning of the translation Title: About the Goat 1. A Goat has four legs. 2. It has two horns. 3. Its horn is curved. 4. The Goat steals. 5. It steals and eats salt and chilis from the house. 6. And it is very close to humans. 7. It hits people with its horns SDM16-20111108-03_SM_T_Wangkui_NgaimongPrimer.wav; Duration 1’29”; 8. It is said that goats’ horns were taken from the dog. 9. A goat and a dog can never stay together. 10. They don’t like each other because of the theft of horns.
