Traditionally men were called thung²wa¹ and women thung²wi¹ (wi ‘grandmother’), but to avoid confusion his daughter has adopted the name Thungwa. His personal name is Long¹khap ‘bitter stone’. When he converted he was given the middle name Marang Yanger. ‘hard worker / builder’ which is an Ao name.
