Western side of the airstrip on Croker.
Description:The fruit, flowers and roots of the plant Haemodorum coccineum called 'rildanda martunymartuny' in Iwaidja are used as a dye for colouring fibre. The colour obtained ranges from orange to purple. The informants demonstrate here the collecting of Haemodorum coccineum. In this case they do not dig the tubers, but cut the dark red flowers and fruits. Demonstration only.
