| Goal of this project is to get a clear view of the command of Sarnami and/or Sranan of primary school children of Suriname origin and to study their command of Dutch. | ||
| For this task the child needs to read a short article and has to answer questions about it. The topics are: - History of Suriname: Maroons, abolishment of slavery, arrival of Javanese and Chinese people - agriculture - Golden Age - industrializing, migration to urban centers - growth of The Hague It looks like if the child is translating a Dutch article in Sarnami. The interviewer doesn't say much, hardly any questions are asked to the child. | ||
| Gaitrie Ramnandanlal is an assistant of Dorian de Haan. She is of Sarnami Hindustani origin. She studies clinical psychology in at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands. | ||
| Gheeta is of Sarnami Hindustani origin. She is born in Suriname and at the age of 3 she moved to the Netherlands. Currently she is in the last form. At home she is the oldest; she has one younger sister, who is 4. With her parents she speaks Sarnami and Sranan. They hardly speak Dutch at home. However, she finds it easier to speak Dutch. She also speaks a little bit Hindi. She sees herself as Surinamese and she wouldn't want to be Dutch. She's very talkative. She loves Hindu movies. Sandra (Sarnami Hindustani) is her best friend. Same girl as in 3A, 9A, 10L, 10M, 10N, 14A, 18R, 28A, 30C & 34B. | ||
