Description:		In the first part of the recording Maria explains how she and her family fled from the fighting. She names the different places on their route and describes some of the events which occurred while they were moving from one place to another in the bush. She then describes how they were apprehended by the PNG army and brought by boat to the Care Center on Saposa. In the second half of the recording, Rose describes their stay at the Care Center. It was dark when they arrived and they had no food. Then they were given some rice by the PNG government and were happy about this.They were given a place to erect houses made from canvas. The chiefs negotiated with the Army and the fighters on the mainland to allow the people in the Care Center to occasionally gather food on the mainland. They stayed in the Care Center for three years, and in 1998 they were able to return home.
