Description: | One night, Kalmax went with his children to hunt possum in the bush. They took their bows and arrows. They crossed two rivers. They saw a possum and Kalmax told one of the children to shine the torch on it. They shot it, and it fell down. They bagged it and continued walking. They walked and walked, uphill, downhill and then uphill again. They crossed another river. They saw another possum eating a wild banana. One of the children shot at it, but missed. They chopped down the banana tree, caught the possum, killed it and bagged it. Later they were walking along a ridge when they came to a canarium tree. They saw a third possum. The children climbed up the tree after the possum. Kalmax gave them a length of bamboo to poke it with so that it would fall down. However the children missed it, and it escaped. They returned home by the same route. Kalmax's wife cooked the possums and they ate them. | |
