| Description: | Susan and Esther do the MPI for Psycholinguistic's 'men and tree' task.The men and tree task consists of 4 sets of pictures of toy men and trees and other objects arranged in different spatial configurations. There are 2 copies of each set. One speaker has a full set and the other has only half the pictures of that set. They sit next to each other but cannot see each other's pictures. It is the task of the person who has all pictures to find out through questions which pictures the other person has.English was the language of discussions and elicitation, Avatime was the target language.Esther and Susan take turns in the director and matcher roles with different sets of pictures. Esther starts out as the director with half of the set and Susan has a full copy of the set and tries to find out via questions which pictures Esther also has. | |
