Contributor:Amenafa
Coverage:Peru
Date:2002-04-09
Description:This tells the story of two brothers who were being badly treated by the people in their village and decided to leave and become forest spirits (nimeramapofa). They climbed a very tall tree and called and sang to nimeramapofa to collect them so they would become forest spirits too. When they slid rapidly down the palm tree there was a puff of smoke which indicated their transformation. Finally they also rescued their sister too from the village who transformed too in the same manner and then they returned to their old village and beat up their aggressors.
