The reko swells and forms small people that grow rapidly. they have a desire to kill others but the man only gives them arrows made from balsa wood to use. The children eventually make arrows from bits of bamboo they stole from the man and kill their grandmother. They then go into the forest and annoy a tapir who pushes a lopuna tree onto the tree in which they were sitting. they escape by transforming into worms and then set about finding and killing the tapir with the help of sisiri, a forest bird.
