Description:This is about the description of twins of different sexes that are considered bad/taboo in Rongga culture. It also describes the ritual that has to be performed when twins of this kind are born. This story from Mr. Anton Gelang was recorded in his house in Sere. Cerita ini tentang mengapa anak kembar berlainan jenis tidak baik dalam budaya Rongga, dan upacara apa yang diperlukan untuk itu. Ceritera Rakyat Rongga, di sampaikan oleh Bapak Anton Gelang, di sere Tanah Rata pagi hari.
The project aims to set up a comprehensive archive of the Rongga language and culture as a resource tool containing the core data and references on which further studies, analyses, and practical language-community programs may be based. The three-year project (2004-2006) has produced a variety of data as part of the archive. It includes audio and visual recordings, (ethnographic) notes based on interviews and observations, as well as anthropological or linguistic descriptions. At the conclusion of the project, a grammar and a basic dictionary have been already completed. Proyek penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan dan membangun materi untuk arsip bahasa dan budaya Rongga, yang bisa dipakai sebagai alat dan rujukan untuk studi dan analisis lanjutan secara akademis dan juga diharapkan bisa dipakai untuk keperluan praktis masyarakat tutur lokal. Proyek dokumentasi yang berlangsung selama tiga tahun ini (2004-2006) telah menghasilkan berbagai jenis data bahasa. Diantaranya, rekaman audio dan video, catatan etnografi berdasarkan interview dan obvervasi, dan deskripsi linguistis dan antropologis. Saat proyek berakhir, buku tatabahasa dan kamus juga telah diselesaikan. Rongga is mainly used in the text.
Initial annotation was done by Frans Seda, re-done and checked for intonational units etc. by Ivan Ture and Jermy Balukh. Indonesian translation was done by Frans Seda and Ivan Ture. English Translation was done by Jermy Balukh and the overal final check was done by Wayan Arka.
Frans Seda is one of young educated Rongga speakers, who is fluent in Rongga, and other neighbouring languages, and also speaks Indonesian (of course), as well as English.
