Description:The real location of the recording is Karnochik, a fishing camp on the western shore of Penzhina Bay near Dobrozhinskiy Island. Audio level for last 30 minutes is very low. Perhaps needs re-digitization. Much bleed-through in beginning with very loud singing. Commentary by Vasili B. Milgichil (14/5/2013) Titkinvil is the old man singing at the beginning, or perhaps it is Ninventikev. 3:00 - Vagel singing a Kuel song. 4:00 - Children sit down and I will sing, singing about living on the shore and the island of Poitelo (Dobrozhinskiy). 4:45 - Seals swimming to shore (nemel?o). Singing to bring in the seals (atal?o) 5:22 - Loud hey - sit down. 5:50 - Enelwit to bring in fish. Dogs sacrificed and placed on posts through chin. 6:30 - Whale hunt. Had very good conversational skills by summer 1997 and fluent by early 1998, at least in listening. Has thick American accent. Knows a few words of Koryak for social situation.
