Description:This is a traditional Chini folktale about a woman who gets left behind when people return to the village after a singsing. She then transformed into a unique bird ('watamark') whose call can still be heard near Aŋgwanmɨŋgɨ hamlet, albeit generaly only by adults. Commentary at the end about the cultural link between attentiveness to the watamark bird call and endangerment of the Chini language. Narrated here by a husband and wife, who reside in Aŋgwanmɨŋgɨ. Total audiovisual duration [7:27].
