Description:This song is performed at Losar and other festivals. It is a call and response song: the leaders (here Doha and Tsomu) sing a line that is then repeated. Ordinarily, men sing the mother’s part. The song tells of an exchange between the beautiful Bumonangsang and her mother. In each verse the mother offers her a different precious jewel, which Bumonangsang refuses, saying she will not need them because she is going to become a nun. Please see accompanying field notes.
