Description:These are stories written by Kubokota speakers at a workshop in Obobulu and intended for publication in the community. Vernacular title: Na vavakatona na veveina na varielava pa Kubokota pa moa. Description: Account of traditional marriage customs
His mother was half Choiseul, half Kubokota, from Pienuna. PK's paternal grandparents spoke Lingi but already some words were forgotten. His grandparents were already dead when he was born but he learnt some Lingi from his father. Lingi is the old language spoken on Ranongga, possibly Ganoqa. I elicited some Lingi vocabulary, however the vast majority of words were identical to Kubokota; I'm not sure whether Lingi and Ganoqa are the same or whether Lingi is the "correct" way to speak Kubokota.
