Description:This is a video of the dancing held during the first night of a springtime festival in the community of Santa Fe. It shows the traditional song and dance style known either as Weygke Néten or Máneg (Weygke Néten is the more commonly used term among Enxet Sur speakers). The dance involves a single lead singer with a water drum, rythmically singing an improvised line which the dancers, encircling the singer, follow along with while moving together in a circle. The bouts of dancing last a minute or two each, with people entering and leaving the circle in between songs. This video is shot mostly in infrared "night vision", as the dancing was done at night with little light.
This continuation of The Enxet Documentation Project begun in 2016. This documentary corpus includes monologues, conversations, singing, and elicitation work along with videos of Enxet Sur people engaged in traditional cultural and economic activities.
This is a video of a singing/dancing performance, along with the conversations and dialogue which fill the gaps between the music.
Anival Lopez is a school teacher, community leader, cultural docent, and apyohóxma (shaman) in the village of Palo Santo.
