Herman is from the village of Erega in the Yamor Lakes. He has great knowledge of custom and tradition and has traveled widely. He natively speaks Yerisiam, Yamor Lakes Kamoro, and Papuan Malay. He also speaks some Ekagi is familiar with the vocabulary and basic grammar of Mairasi, Miere, various other languages.
