Description:In this video, Govardhan Nimasow has a meeting with his wives about agricultural tasks ahead in the year. This is basically him giving instructions to his wives. They only respond to him now and then, but most of the time they are listeners. This is a highly stylised recording, not natural. Such meetings are not held with traditional dress as seen in the video, nor is the setting so formal as this. However, the footage is valuable in many respects: First, it has rich agricultural vocabulary, second, it is another example of formal speech. Govardhan's flow of formal language is exceptional. As noted elsewhere, he is one of the best recognised Hrusso Aka elders with such a command of the formal language. Thirdly, it is one of the best lit indoor videos, and the aesthetics and the formal dress of the consultants are much liked by the native speaker community. It is quite unusual to obtain such a beautifully lit video inside Hrusso Aka houses, which are dark, with hardly any natural light. Govardhan's son, Tsering, had opened up the roof to allow more light. The video was shot in fairly noisy village surroundings. Govardhan's house is right in the middle of Palizi village, close to the main road. However, the noise is quite minimised in the recordings as the microphones have picked up the speakers voices quite well, blocking out everything else. Video: Redorded with Canon XA20, settings - Auto. Audio: Fairly quiet village surroundings; indoors. Micropones: Audio Technica 803B lavalier microphones - 2 One attached to Govardhan's collar and the attached to Sange Nimasow, third from the left. Audio recorded directly on Canon XA20 and extracted later using Any Video Converter software. Recording Specs: Sample rate 48000 Hz, 32 bit float.
