Description:Selsius asks Yunus (in Moor) to tell some traditional stories. Yunus tells the story of Mambaruva, a sea spirit who came ashore in the form of a man, fell in love with a human girl, married her, and took her back to the sea. Mambaruva later helps defend Mambor from a slave raid (rak) by the Wandamen people. After some follow-up questions, Yunus tells the story of Manukeke, a young girl from Ma'avoere (a hill on the island neighboring Mambor) who fled to the mainland with her mother to escape a dangerous man. Manukeke married a Wate (Tarunggare) man, and her mother taught the Wate how to give birth naturally rather than cutting the baby out of the mother (as the story says was their former custom). Selsius then re-tells both of these stories at greater length, and translates them into Papuan Malay.
Selsius is from Mambor.
Olfied served as Dave's translator and assistant during his first trip to Mambor in 2008.
Yunus is from Mambor.
