Description:This narrative was recorded by the team of E. Kalinina (E. Kalinina, V. Gusev, N. Sumbatova and S. Toldova) from Daria Ivanovna Nadeina in 2005. In 2017, Natalia Aralova transcribed this recording in ELAN, glossed it, and checked questions with Daria Ivanovna. The text is very close to the fairy tale published by Cincius (1982; #37, with the Negidal original on p. 103 and the Russian translation on p. 176). The ending is a bit different and overall the version of Daria Ivanovna is shorter. Interestingly, another version of this fairy tale was told by Anna Porfir’evna Nadeina in 2006 (see the bundle ID: APN_skazka_ptica). This is a fairy tale about a lazy bird which chirps too much and gets knocked out by the blacksmith Isegdin. Then it gets roasted and finally eaten, but it does not die, just flies away and comes back after a while. раздел: APN_skazka_ptica).
This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun' and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings.
Worked in the kindergarten as teacher and director, worked as a schoolteacher, in a shop, and also in the village administration. Is very active in maintaining Negidal culture and the language.
