Description:In this narrative, Galina Kljueva tells of an incident during her childhood, when her parents had taken her and her younger brother across the river to pick berries. Here, they encountered a female bear with cubs, but managed to make their way back safely. Some additional explanations about the event are archived in the text file "Further_explanations_dopolnitelnye_objasnenija". The recording was done in Antonina Kazarova's living room. Galina Kljueva, who now lives in Polina Osipenko village, had come to Vladimirovka the evening before to prepare her text: she had written it out in Russian and then translated it into Negidal with the help of Antonina Kazarova. She basically read off the text – one can see the notebook in her hand. Scans of both the Russian and the Negidal texts are deposited as well. Antonina Kazarova sat next to her and occasionally prompted her with a word, and in the end she asked a question or two in Negidal to achieve a bit of a conversation. Recorded by Brigitte Pakendorf with a Marantz PMD660 solid state recorder and an AKG 1000 S microphone, in mono, and a Panasonic HC-V707EG-K video camera on a little tripod on a stool set up in the middle of the room and zoomed in on the speakers. Unfortunately, the camera was set up a bit to the left, in order to hide it from Galina Kljueva, so she is in profile. Transcribed by Brigitte Pakendorf and translated with Galina Kljueva. // Галина Ивановна Клюева рассказывает случай из своего детства, когда они с родителями и младшим братом ездили за ягодой через реку. Там собаки привели к ним медведицу, у которой, наверно, по-близости были медвежата.Галина Ивановна и ее семья благополучно ушли и вернулись домой, хотя и без ягоды.Дополнительные объяснения к случаю даются в файле "Further_explanations_dopolnitelnye_objasnenija". К тому же заархивированы сканкопии русской и негидальской рукописей, по которым Галина Ивановна рассказала про случай.
This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun’ and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings.
Galina Kljueva worked as a primary school teacher, as a secretary in the village administration, and in the sewing workshop of the village.
AVK worked as a kindergarten and primary school teacher, and since ~1985 as a teacher of Negidal for children for whom this is L2.
