Description: | This story was recorded by Elena Kalinina and Nina Sumbatova from Daria Ivanovna Nadeina in 2006. A first transcription and translation were made by Nina Sumbatova with the help of Galina Ivanovna Kandakova. In 2017, Natalia Aralova time aligned the transcription, glossed the text, and checked questions with Daria I. Nadeina. This short story is about crossing the river in the fog early in the morning. An old man (called grandfather Pavel) wanted to bring Daria Ivanovna and her sister Tamara to the other side, but five times in a row they arrived back at the tents of their relatives. // Этот текст был записан в 2006 году Е. Калининой и Н. Сумбатовой от Д. И. Надеиной. Д. И. Надеина рассказывает о том, как они заблудились в тумане, когда переплывали реку на оморочке ранним утром. Она и ее сестра Тамара Ивановна должны были попасть на работу после ночной рыбалки. Их перевозил дедушка Павел. Пять раз подряд они приплывали обратно к своим палаткам, и смогли переехать, только когда туман рассеялся.
This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun' and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings.
