Description:This recording comprises two short tales, one told by Daria Nadeina, the other told by her mother Anna Nadeina. Unfortunately, the recording level of the second half, in which Anna Nadeina is talking, is so low that it was impossible to complete the transcription and translation in 2017 with either Daria Nadeina or Galina Kandakova. Therefore, the original transcription and translation done by Nina Sumbatova and possibly Antonina Kazarova were kept without any glossing. The first tale told by Daria Nadeina was retranscribed by Brigitte Pakendorf in 2017 and retranslated by Daria Nadeina; this part was glossed by Brigitte Pakendorf (and questions were checked with Daria Nadeina). This short tale is about a bear who is being bothered by mosquitoes and who is helped in his plight by a frog and its relatives - which goes to show that size doesn't matter. // В начале записи Дарья Ивановна Надеина рассказывает сказку про измученного комарами медведя, которому помогают лягушки. Во второй половине записи Анна Порфирьевна Надеина рассказывает отрывки из сказок про лягушку с мышкой; к сожалению, запись здесь очень тихая.
This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun’ and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings.
