Description:		Daria Nadeina explains how to make dried fish ("jukola"): they cut the fish into different parts (which all have different names), then briefly place the pieces in salt water and smoke them with smoke from different kinds of wood before drying them further. The explanation is accompanied with a drawing. The recording was done in the living room of DIN's house, and only BP was present. This recording was planned: in the morning, Daria Ivanovna had started to explain to BP in Russian how they make dried fish, and so then we agreed that BP would come back again in the afternoon with the video camera and DIN would tell it all again in Negidal. Recorded with a Marantz PMD660 solid state recorder and an AKG 1000 S microphone, in mono, and a Panasonic HC-V707EG-K video camera which BP held in her hand in order to be able to zoom in on the drawing at first and later on DIN's gestures. The first 23 seconds were trimmed off the video file (to cut off the wobbling as BP sat down); it is from this trimmed video file that the audio used in the ELAN alignment was extracted. It should be noted that the battery of the AKG 1000 S microphone was apparently already weak, so the sound of the original Marantz audiofile (jukola_DIN_180217.WAV) is on the weak side, even though the microphone was on the table right in front of DIN. But at least in this audio file the constant supportive "mhm" by BP is not very audible. In addition to the multimedia files, a scan of the drawing made by DIN during the recording is archived. 		This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun’ and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings.
