| Description: | Bosus is telling us about people from the village who went to Syria to see a sorcerer. They ask sorcerer about a treasure that is in the village. The sorcerer explained that this treasure is very big and it could satisfy the entire country for seven years during a famine. However, if it is dug out, there will blood spilt over it. The sorcerer said only a high positioned soldier would be able to dig it out. Nobody has been able to dig it out until today. People have attempted to dig around but have not been successful in finding it. These curses on treasures are put by their original owners. | |
| The Beth Qustan dialect of the Central Neo-Aramaic, Turoyo, which is the language of Tur 'Abdin, South Eastern Turkey, with an estimated 20 families remaining in the village.This project will document socio-cultural practices of the Turoyo speaking community in Tur 'Abdin, focusing on vernacular tales, particularly those that demonstrate cultural interaction between Muslims and Christians, including Muslim visitations to the shrines of Christian saints, and consultation of soothsayers by Christians. | ||
