Contributor (researcher):Woody
Coverage:United States
Date:2015-03-04
Description:Linda Lambrecht talks about the influence of Hawaiian Creole English ('Pidgin') on HSL. She also talks about which verbs can occur as directional verbs and which cannot in HSL, followed by vocabulary for place names around the world, and scheduling to meet with Deaf individuals interested in learning HSL. Afterwards, Linda tells the story of how Maui (the Hawaiian god of the sun) captured the sun and asks the students to bring her more ideas of stories or songs to translate into HSL, then discusses signs for different animals of the islands (trigger fish, dolphins) and place names (like Diamond Head).
