Bibliographic Citation:Ratu, Hilarius, Danerek, H. Stefan, Sophune, Pidhu (Ebbe), Danerek, H. Stefan, Maria Weka; 2015-10-15; Genre: Medicine/huru. Maria Weka, kampong Cawalo, Cawalo domain (desa Rokirole), explains her 'huru kena teone' (huru "hanging things"). Weka cures several different symptoms; swollenness, tooth ache, throat ache and worse afflictions, with her roots. To find out if the 'huru' is hers. she makes a ritual with a coconut (similar to 'baga'). To find her healing roots she has to bring paddy grains and a little money on a plate, to give them; the ancestors. She only finds the roots, one red and one white, after she has given that gift, in the wood/plantation somewhere. She pours some water on the ground and the roots appear. The cure is to 'ngiru' (chew and spit or give the chew) with betel and white and red cassava ('laka', 'pura'). With a ritual for 'peju'; that uses three species of fish, rotten. Mama Weka also tells of how she came to be a healer, how her mother taught, and cured, her. Recorded by Pidu Sophune (Ebbe) arund nine o'clock in the morning 20 Oct -15 at her home with the AT Lavalier mic. Together with Mama Mere.
