The curse in wutu kena is created by putting a centipede on the thorn fish teeth, slightly injuring it and releasing it. The symptoms, swollen stomach, follow the tide, low tide recede, high tide full until the victim cannot breathe. The cure uses the plants 'boi nua', 'hobo' and 'hobo dera', and scraped tissue from the stomach of the thorn fish. All chewed with betel-pepper, areca-nut and lime. No 'bulu wa'o', no 'peju'. Huru lekhe uses a coconut shell that is closed by another shell from above. Hung in the plantations as a curse it also causes swollenness in the victim; arms, mid-back or all over the body. The masticated cure uses 'hobo dera', 'boi nua', and tissue from the coconut shell. Applied at the place hurting.
