Description:Translation (Htoi San) I am telling a story about a grandpa and a grandchild who made clay cooking pots. Once upon a time, a grandfather made crocks with his grandchild for their living. Getting water was so difficult in their town. Grandpa sculpted human figures. The villagers had to go very far to fetch the water until the foot of a mountain. Grandfather sent his grandchild to get water from that mountain base. On the way, his granddaughter saw a large white turnip growing. She plucked that radish plant and the water flowed out heavily. She thought, "It is tough to get water in our village, but here the water flows out a lot. I am going to tell my people about this." While she was thinking this, a strong wind blew and took her away. An ogre made the wind, and he kept her in it. "Hey, you. You will be dead if you dare to tell this water where it is and how much it is. That's why I seized you," the ogre told the girl, and she replied, "I will not tell anyone. Please release me. My grandpa is waiting for me." "You really cannot tell anybody. If you tell this, I will definitely kill you," the monster told her firmly. The girl promised, "Surely I won't spread this." The demon sent her back to the previous place with the strong blowing wind. She returned home and reached her village, where the water was still hard to get. All the villagers faced the demanding water. The water was dry where they usually fetched. She was so pitiful and told about the water that the monster asked her not to tell. She told the place where the radish grew, and her people happily got the water from there. When the giant found this, he knew it was the girl's telling; therefore, he kept her with the strong blowing wind again. The ogre told her, "I am going to kill you. You broke your promise. So I will finish you off today." The girl begged, "I am staying only with my grandpa. Please give me a chance to meet him." "Alright, once you have met with your grandpa, I will scatter you back," the monster let her go. The girl told her grandpa about this when she met him. "I will give my life if all of our village people can drink water." She let her grandpa know. Her grandfather was a potter, and he also knew how to sculpt human figures. The grandpa said, "My grandchild, don't worry. I will curve a human exactly like you." That night, he made a clay human discussing with the villagers. After shaping the human, he did not know how to put the hair. Then he told his grandchild. "My grandchild, you may like your hair." Grandpa plucked all her hair, put it on the clay human's head, and then placed it where the large white turnip grew. The villagers brought that clay human and put it there. That night, heavy rain was on the mountain, and the giant radish plant growing place was flooded. Due to the flooding, the clay human which grandpa made was drifting and melting in the water. It caved and turned back to the soil, and only the hair was floating on the water. The monster saw this and said. The ogre thought, "She did not keep her promise, so it is good that she drowned herself as she doesn't like me to kill her." From that day onwards, the monster did not close the water and let it open. He thought and believed the girl was dead. The whole village could consume water because of that girl.
